51st Street Reno Project Reveal: Nursery

During the beginning stages of this project our client was pregnant with their second child.  We began by selecting all of the hard surfaces and finishes for the home before construction began. Our client loved it so much that she came to us to design her nursery as well.

As this is their first girl, they wanted it to be a fun and feminine space.  Our client fell in love with a pink buffalo check wallpaper and knew she wanted to use it in her daughter’s room.  We used the wallpaper as a jumping off point and designed the whole space around it. We kept all of the furniture neutral so as she gets older it will be able to transition with her. For example, the changing table top part comes off and turns into a regular dresser and the rug and pillows could easily transition into a teen’s room.

When creating kid spaces we always want to make sure the furniture will be able to grow with the child as they get older. The artwork gave us the perfect opportunity to pull in some additional colors into the space.  I love how the pillows in the crib add a nice contrast to the space while playing off the tones in the artwork.  I thought it would be fun to share the design board of this project along with the final reveal so you can see our process a little more and how much the design board really gives you a taste of what the space will look like in the end.  I hope you enjoy!
